Japan Pocket Guide is a free travel companion for visitors to Japan, covering manners, useful phrases, trash sorting, and a map of trash bin locations. We're happy to help with any questions or feedback.

The Trash Map isn't showing bins near me — why?

The Trash Map uses OpenStreetMap data, which is crowd-sourced. Bin data may be incomplete in some areas. Make sure location permission is enabled for Japan Pocket Guide in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services.

How do I change the app language?

Tap the language button (shown in the bottom-right corner of the main screen) to open the language picker. English, 中文（简体）, 中文（繁體）, and 한국어 are supported.

How do I opt out of personalized ads?

Deny the tracking permission prompt that appears on first launch, or go to iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking and disable tracking for Japan Pocket Guide.

How do I delete my data?

The app stores only your language preference locally on your device. To delete it, simply uninstall Japan Pocket Guide. No account or server-side data is created.

The app crashed or something isn't working correctly.

We automatically receive crash reports via Firebase Crashlytics. If you'd like to report a specific issue, please contact us using the button below and describe what happened, including your iOS version and device model.
