Japan Pocket Guide ("the App") is a free travel guide app for visitors to Japan. We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what data we collect and how we use it.
Information We Collect
- Location data – Used only when you open the Trash Map feature to find nearby trash bins. Location is never stored or shared.
- Analytics data – Firebase Analytics collects anonymized usage statistics (screens viewed, session duration) to help us improve the app.
- Crash reports – Firebase Crashlytics automatically sends crash reports to help us fix bugs. No personally identifiable information is included.
- Advertising data – Google AdMob may collect device identifiers (IDFA) to show personalized ads. You can opt out via the ATT prompt shown at first launch.
- Language preference – Your selected language is stored locally on your device using SharedPreferences. It is never transmitted to our servers.

Each service operates under its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review them.
Data Retention
We do not maintain a server or user database. All app preferences are stored locally on your device. Anonymized analytics data is retained by Firebase for up to 14 months per their standard policy.
Children's Privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your Rights
- Opt out of personalized ads by denying the ATT prompt or via iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- Disable analytics by limiting ad tracking in your device settings.
- Delete app data by uninstalling the app.

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
