The map isn't showing trash bins near me
Trash bin data comes from OpenStreetMap contributors. Coverage varies by area — some locations in Japan may have limited data. Try tapping "Search this area" after moving the map, or use the refresh button.
How do I change the app language?
Tap the flag button (🇺🇸/🇨🇳/🇹🇼/🇰🇷) in the bottom-right corner of the screen to switch between English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, and Korean.
How do I save a manner or phrase?
Tap the ♥ heart icon on any card to save it to your favourites. Access saved items by tapping the "★ Saved" filter pill at the top of the list.
Does the app work offline?
Yes — manners, phrases, and the trash sorting guide work fully offline. The trash bin map requires an internet connection to fetch live location data.
How do I turn off daily notifications?
Go to your iPhone Settings → Notifications → JapanDō → toggle off "Allow Notifications".
The app crashed or something looks wrong
Please try force-closing and reopening the app. If the issue persists, contact us with a description of what happened and your device model / iOS version.
